What is an alert?
You can set alert thresholds for certain KPIs in the 'Alerts' section of the company's Settings. An alert threshold represents a critical level that may indicate the business is experiencing financial stress in a given area.
Example: An alert may trigger when 'Accounts Receivable Days' exceed a specific result, or when the cash held by the business drops below a certain amount.
What happens when an alert is triggered?
A notification appears within the Fathom Analysis tools and Pro reports when an alert is triggered.
Analysis tools
KPI Summary tool
In the KPI Summary tool, if any active KPIs have an alert triggered, a red dot with the number of triggered alerts will appear in the top right corner of the tool.
KPIs with the triggered alert will have a red dot next to them. You can hover over the red dot to see why the alert was triggered.
If you click on the KPI, a modal displays a trend chart of the KPI's performance. You can read about the alert and potential suggestions for improving the metric's performance at the bottom of the modal.
KPI Explorer
Similar to the KPI Summary tool, when you click on a KPI in the KPI Explorer tool, a modal will appear.
You can see the metric's performance trend. If an alert has been triggered for the metric, you can read about the alert and potential suggestions for improving the metric's performance at the bottom of the modal.
Alerts tool
In a Benchmark Group, you can access the Alerts Dashboard. It will display a list of companies in the benchmark group and any alerts that have been triggered for them.
Pro reports
You can add the KPI Summary tool to a Pro report. Details about any triggered alerts will appear at the bottom of the table.
Set alerts for your company
You can set alerts for some default metrics. You are unable to create or set alerts for custom metrics.
